Mambo View Point Eco Lodge / Lushoto

Mambo View Point Eco Lodge is located 3 hours drive from the historic district capital of Lushoto in the center of the Usambara Mountains near the village of Mambo. During the German colonial period, Lushoto was referred to as "Wilhelmtal" and some colonial buildings are still well preserved and can be visited. The longer journey is already worth a trip, the way there winds over tight serpentines and many climbs through the beautiful and fertile environment reminiscent of Switzerland and leads through dreamlike landscapes with pine and eucalyptus trees, banana trees and tropical plants.

The longer journey to Mambo View Point Eco Lodge leads via Lushoto at 1,400 meters above sea level past the beautiful waterfalls of Soni via Mtae to the small village of Mambo. No other place in the mountains of Tanzania can compete with the location and breathtaking views at Mambo View Point Eco Lodge at 1,900 meters and it takes the visitor's breath away. The name of the lodge "Mambo" was derived from the Kiswahili "Mambo Poa!" means "very good!". A local legend says that long ago a huge rock fell down from the mountain and people were so amazed by the beauty of the place that they named the nearby village "Mambo".

The longer journey compensates due to the spectacular landscape and the unique location above the clouds with a fantastic view and you feel as if you have been transported to the "end of the world". The beautiful surroundings invite you to go hiking and discovering. We recommend spending at least two or more nights at Mambo View Point Eco Lodge when visiting. The sunrises and sunsets are unique and remain unforgettable. On clear days, the distant view extends over the Pare mountains to Kilimanjaro.
