Babu´s Camp / Mkomazi National Park

The Babu's Camp is located in the north-eastern part of the incomparable and touristic unknown Mkomazi Nationalpark with its unique landscape between the Pare Mountains and the proximity to the Kenyan border, which is in the Tsavo West Nationalpark, with a driving time of approx. 2.5 hours transforms.

In the Mkomazi National Park with its untouched wilderness you can encounter large herds of elephants and giraffes as well as the black rhinoceros and watch the rare African wild dogs up close.

The park entrance of the Zange Gate to the wild and undeveloped Mkomazi Nationalpark with its dry savannah landscape is six kilometers from the city of Same. Babu's Camp with its five safari-style tents is in the unknown northern part of the Mkomazi Nationalpark and is surrounded by ancient baobabs and acacia trees with a view of the Gulela Mountains.

In the Mkomazi National Park, the Black Rhino Sanctuary has been running for many years under the direction of the Englishman Tony Fitzjohn for the rearing and settlement of black rhinos. On July 7, 2021, the first black rhinos, funded by the George Adamson Memorial Fund, were released into the wild with a grand opening ceremony with a memorial stone and the Mkomazi Nationalpark was further developed for tourism. There is also a breeding station for African wild dogs that can be visited by guests.

In the Mkomazi Nationalpark you can find large herds of elephants and a variety of giraffes, impalas, Grant's gazelles, zebras, dikdiks, eland and buffalo and other animal species. Fantastic bird watching is also possible. The animals gather in the late afternoon at sunset at the Mbula water hole and other water basins and are particularly easy to observe there.

The accommodations at Babu's Tented Camp are reached via winding paths and have comfortable and lovingly furnished safari tents. They stand on a high plateau that can be reached via stone steps and are surrounded by a wooden terrace with a perfect backdrop for fantastic views of the breathtaking landscape of the Mkomazi National Park. The spacious tents are built over with a wooden roof and equipped with large and very comfortable beds with chests in front of them, cloakroom, cupboard, desk with seating and an indoor bathroom, as well as toilets and showers.

The wonderful communal tent is furnished with a well-stocked bar, picture tripods and heavy leather armchairs as well as comfortable seating with great attention to detail. The adjoining restaurant creates great menus and unusual buffets with exceptionally pleasant, friendly and courteous service. The camp also offers extraordinary walking and bush safaris through the Mkomazi National Park, accompanied by a trained guide.

Anyone looking for seclusion and solitude in a great landscape with its original African wilderness is in good hands in Babu's Camp and will spend a wildly romantic and unforgettable time in Tanzania.
