Kigoma Hilltop Hotel / Lake Tanganyika

The Kigoma Hilltop Hotel is a beautiful place for travelers seeking comfort and relaxation for a stay in the historic city of Kigoma. The boutique hotel with its 30 rooms is located on a hillside with a spectacular view over Lake Tanganyika. All rooms are well equipped with air conditioning, safe, comfortable beds, toilet, shower, telephone and have a balcony overlooking the picturesque Lake Tanganyika. On the spacious garden zebra and other animals graze and there is a well-kept swimming pool available which can be used by non-guests for a fee.

The hotel restaurant is also very popular with locals and offers a varied menu selection with various soups, meat and vegetarian dishes. The restaurant serves only soft drinks and fruit cocktails. Dine on the uniquely located restaurant terrace of the Kigoma Hilltop Hotel and enjoy breathtaking sunsets on Lake Tanganyika. The transfer time from the airport Kigoma is about 15 minutes and the small Ujiji can be reached in 5 minutes (about 8 km). In Ujiji the journalist Morten Stanley welcomed the missing naturalist Dr. Livingstone in 1871 with the casual phrase "Dr. Livingstone, I presume"

The GOMBE Stream National Park, founded by Dr. Jane Goodall, and the Mahale Mountains National Park, where you can approach the last chimpanzees in Africa, can be reached from the Kigoma Hilltop Hotel in 2 hours by chatterboat.

In Kigoma lays the world-famous MV Liemba, also known as former "Graf Götzen" as the only passenger ship on the Lake Tanganyika from. In 1913, the steamboat was built by the Meyer shipyard and packed in 5,000 boxes to be brought to Lake Tanganyika.
