Baghayo Garden Suites / Karatu

The Baghayo Garden Suites are more than a lodge – they are a living story of Tanzanian heritage.
Founded by Reginald Bayo, a passionate host and trained chef, this charming retreat sits on a five-acre family estate surrounded by coffee plantations, fruit trees and lush gardens. Every corner reflects the warmth and authenticity of Tanzanian hospitality.

The name Baghayo represents roots and legacy. Reginald’s father, Stefano Baghayo, was a respected herdsman and farmer in this region. Building the Garden Suites became Reginald’s way of honouring his family’s history – the walls of the main lounge even contain bricks from the original 1950s farmhouse, keeping the spirit of home alive.

Perfectly located between the Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire, and Lake Manyara National Parks, the lodge is an ideal Ndoto Safari retreat – a place to rest, refresh and reconnect with nature between your adventures.
Each suite offers space and serenity: a bedroom, a private lounge with a working fireplace, and a veranda overlooking the coffee fields and distant hills. Natural materials like wood and brick create a warm, grounded atmosphere, while modern comforts – large bathrooms, Wi-Fi, and cozy furnishings – ensure complete relaxation.

Dining follows the farm-to-table philosophy: most ingredients come directly from the estate – vegetables, herbs, fruit, coffee, milk, honey and even wheat. Freshly baked bread, hand-roasted coffee and traditional Tanzanian flavours turn every meal into a memory.
After a day of safari, guests can unwind at the pool, enjoy a massage in the Coffee Garden Spa, or relax with a cocktail on the veranda. As the sun sets over the plantations, the scent of flowers and roasted coffee fills the air.

At night, stories of the day’s adventures blend with the sounds of nature – the chirping of crickets, the crackle of the fireplace, and the laughter of newfound friends.

Baghayo Garden Suites is where hospitality, heritage and harmony meet – a place where travellers arrive as guests and leave as friends.
